Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Travis Dermott missed practice on Wednesday and has been listed as day-to-day with a shoulder injury, head coach Mike Babcock told reporters.
It’s unclear how the shoulder issue arose. Dermott, a promising rearguard projected by many to make the NHL squad out of training camp, played in Tuesday night’s pre-season opener. He had one assist and a penalty in the game.
The 21-year-old suited up with the Maple Leafs for 37 games last season, registering a goal and 12 assists.
