Maple Leafs’ Tyson Barrie practises two days after ankle injury

Toronto Maple Leafs' Tyson Barrie is in some pain after blocking a shot from Gaetan Haas of the Edmonton Oilers, he would head down the tunnel.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Tyson Barrie practised with the team Monday, two days after he suffered an ankle injury against the Edmonton Oilers.

Barrie left the game midway through the first period after blocking a shot from the Oilers’ Gaetan Haas. After the game, the Maple Leafs announced Barrie’s X-rays had come back negative and he was spotted walking out of Rogers Place in dress shoes.

Barrie’s status for Tuesday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres remains unclear, but the team did recall defencemen Timothy Liljegren and Martin Marincin from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis Monday.

The 28-year-old Barrie has three goals and 13 points in 34 games this season.
