Should Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Mike Hoffman get suspended?

Kyle Turris stepped up for his captain, chasing down Marc-Edouard Vlasic after the Sharks defenceman got into it in the corner with Erik Karlsson.

Although not necessarily rivals, Wednesday night’s game between the Ottawa Senators and the San Jose Sharks got pretty chippy.

The first incident occurred near the end of the second period when Ottawa’s Kyle Turris chased down and attempted to fight San Jose’s Marc-Edouard Vlasic, after the Sharks defenceman appeared to spear Erik Karlsson in the corner.

The duo were both assessed fighting majors, although Turris picked up an extra minor for instigating and a 10-minute misconduct.

The really contentious part of this came on the spear in the corner. Should Vlasic be suspended for his apparent spear on Karlsson?

The rough stuff carried into the third period when Senators forward Mike Hoffman took offence to a hit from San Jose’s Logan Couture while entering the Sharks zone.

After Hoffman got knocked off the puck, he appeared to chase down Couture and then cross-checked him in the back of the head.

Hoffman was assessed a major penalty for cross-checking and a game misconduct. The league will surely review this play as it was a direct shot to the head, but do you think Hoffman should get suspended for the infraction?
