Marian Gaborik to make Senators debut on top line vs. Sabres

Newest Senator Marian Gaborik reacts to being traded to Ottawa, says he's excited to start a new chapter, and he reached out to Zdeno Chara and Marian Hossa for advice on the city, organization.

In just a few days, Marian Gaborik has gone from being a healthy-scratch candidate for the Los Angeles Kings to a top-line winger on the Ottawa Senators.

Gaborik and teammate Nick Shore were dealt to the Senators on Tuesday, with Dion Phaneuf and Nate Thompson sent to Los Angeles in return.

Senators head coach Guy Boucher discussed his team’s new acquisitions during a media availability on Thursday and said he wants to start Gaborik alongside Mike Hoffman and Matt Duchene when the Senators host the Buffalo Sabres.

Gaborik, 36, registered seven goals and seven assists in 30 games with the Kings this season while rebounding from off-season knee surgery and has been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions.
