Forward Matt Duchene has been told that he will be scratched by the Ottawa Senators ahead of Monday’s NHL trade deadline.

In his 31 Thoughts blog on Tuesday, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman wrote that “barring a massive swerve, Matt Duchene will be traded.” He went on to list the Nashville Predators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Calgary Flames and New York Islanders as potential teams that could take a run at acquiring him.

Duchene, whose deal expires after this season, has posted 27 goals and 31 assists in 50 games with the Senators this season. Friedman reported in his blog that if Duchene is traded to Nashville, “both player and team will work to make it a long-term relationship.”
