Matt Niskanen could be in trouble.
The Washington Capitals defenceman was ejected from Monday’s Game 3 against the Pittsburgh Penguins after laying a hit on Sidney Crosby in the first period.
Crosby had fallen to the ice when Niskanen made contact with No. 87’s head
Niskanen got five and a game for cross-checking, and it’s unclear whether Crosby was hurt from contact to the head or from the way his leg bent after the hit.
The NHL’s department of player safety doesn’t like suspending players for playoff games, and Niskanen did miss nearly all of Game 3.
Still, the question remains: Will Niskanen be suspended for his hit on Crosby?
