Max Domi thanks Coyotes organization with post on Twitter

Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin talks about acquiring Max Domi in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes for Alex Galchenyuk.

A day after being traded to the Montreal Canadiens for Alex Galchenyuk, Max Domi took to Twitter to thank the Arizona Coyotes for his time with the team.

Domi, 23, was drafted 12th overall by Arizona back in 2013. He scored 36 goals and 135 points in 222 games in the desert.

On Friday night, the Coyotes tweeted out their appreciation for Domi’s contributions to the team over the past three seasons.

Domi signed a two-year extension with the Canadiens worth $6.3 million on Saturday and spoke to the media about his excitement for the change of scenery.

“Montreal has an unbelievable hockey team right now,” Domi said in a conference call. “A combination of an unbelievable group of veteran leadership, some great young players and ultimately the best goalie in the league.

“It’s a great mix and I’m just going to try and slide in and do my part in helping this team win in any way I possibly can.”

Mark Bergevin believes that the young winger has a lot more to offer than what he has shown the past couple of seasons.

“I think there’s more to Max than just nine goals,” Bergevin said during his press conference Saturday. “I think he brings more with his intangibles which we like… there’s still some untapped potential I believe that’s still there.”
