Mike Richards expected to make Capitals debut Saturday

Watch as newly acquired Mike Richards takes warm up for the Washington Capitals.

More than a week after signing a one-year deal with the Washington Capitals, Mike Richards is expected to make his debut with his new team.

Richards looks like he’ll draw into the fourth line as the Capitals take on the Buffalo Sabres Saturday.

The last time Richards, 30, suited up for an NHL game was with the Los Angeles Kings on Apr. 9 of last season. Brooks Laich is expected to be a healthy scratch.

Richards first practiced with the Capitals Tuesday, and warmed up with the team prior to Thursday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks but didn’t play.

Richards signed a pro-rated $1 million contract Jan. 6. His contract with the Kings was terminated in June 2015 due to a “material breach.”
