Even the Czech media thinks it’s a good fit
Maybe there is some fire amidst the smoke that suggests Jaromir Jagr is considering signing as a free agent with the Calgary Flames.
It is reported that Jagr plans to test the free agent market and according to The Globe and Mail, Jagr may be a good fit north of the border in Calgary.
Czech news outlet iDNES.cz didn’t disagree as it would pair him up with fellow countryman Roman Cervenka.
The Flames signing of young Czech star Cervenka for one year at $3.75 million holds promise, but perhaps more so if a certain Czech star was in Calgary to help him get used to life in the NHL. Both Jagr and Cervenka have played in the national program together and in the KHL.
So, why not Calgary?
It would be a drastic change of philosophy here in the foothills, but why not? Jagr still has a little magic and if he can bring Cervenka along for the ride, the Flames signing might come to life.
Many feel the Flames would not have much chance in the UFA market in terms of big dollars and big names. Yet Jaromir Jagr getting his first taste of playing in the NHL as a member of a Canadian team has a nice ring to it. Czech-mate.
