Scott Stevens has resigned from his role as assistant coach of the Minnesota Wild so he can spend more time with his family, the club announced Tuesday.
Stevens, a 22-year NHL defenceman who won three Stanley Cups with the New Jersey Devils, had just finished his first season with the Wild.
“We thank Scott for the hard work and dedication he provided our team this past season,” Minnesota general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a press release. “We respect his decision to spend more time with his family and wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
Prior to his tenure with the Wild, the 53-year-old Hall of Famer spent time as an assistant coach, then co-coach with the Devils from 2012-14.
“I would like to thank the Minnesota Wild for the great opportunity they gave me,” Stevens said. “From ownership to the coaching staff and players, it was a fantastic experience. I would also like to thank the fans for their great support.”
