Injured Parise won’t travel with Wild on road trip

Chris Kunitz scored his 8th goal of the season as the Penguins cruised past the Wild 4-1

Injury to insult.

Not only did the Minnesota Wild lose their first home game Tuesday to the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but star forward Zach Parise suffered an upper-body injury severe enough that he will not be travelling with the team on its upcoming road trip.

Parise did not play in the third period of Tuesday’s 4-1 loss. He may have been hurt by Penguins defenceman Robert Bortuzzo’s hit from behind and/or a cross-check by Blake Comeau.

This is good news for the Wild’s Eastern Conference opponents this week: the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Parise’s former team, the New Jersey Devils.

The 30-year-old winger has four goals and six assists through 10 games.
