Brandon Prust will return to the Montreal Canadiens lineup Friday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets after missing the last 10 games with a shoulder injury.

The 29-year-old winger was injured in a loss to the Nashville Predators on Oct. 20. He has two goals and an assist in eight games this season.

In a corresponding move, the Canadiens assigned right-winger Christian Thomas to the American Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs.

Thomas, the son of former NHL forward Steve Thomas, has returned from an injury suffered in training camp.

The 21-year-old was acquired July 2 from the New York Rangers in exchange for prospect Danny Kristo. Thomas played one game for the Rangers last season.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs released forward Akim Aliu, who had been on a professional player tryout contract.
