True North finds kicking dog incident ‘disturbing’

VANCOUVER — The head of a catering company which has contracts with Winnipeg’s MTS Centre is under investigation by the British Columbia SPCA after security camera video appears to show him kicking a dog at a downtown Vancouver hotel.

Desmond Hague, CEO of Centerplate Inc., is seen in the elevator video from July kicking a dog before dragging it by its leash.

Hague admits in a statement to Global News that he’s the man in the surveillance footage.

He says he’s deeply embarrassed and has apologized to the animal’s owners.

True North Sports and Entertainment, the company that runs both MTS Centre and the Winnipeg Jets hockey club, said in a statement released Sunday that it finds Hague’s behaviour deeply disturbing.

The company is awaiting completion of an investigation by Centreplate before commenting further, but says the incident does not reflect on the company’s workers at the downtown arena. (Global)
