Take a deep breath, Patrik Stefan. You’re still the champion of embarrassing empty net breakaway opportunities.
Johan Ryno looked like he had himself a sure thing as his Leksands team led Brynas 3-2 with under a minute to go in a Swedish Hockey League game.
Ryno blew an empty net opportunity when he appeared to lose an edge and fall to the ice on a breakaway. As if that wasn’t enough, Ryno recovered the puck upon returning to his feet only to fan on a shot attempt… before falling to the ice once more.
At least Ryno’s Leksands teammates kept the puck out of their own net while Brynas pressed late. If only Stefan had been so lucky.
