Watch: Rangers tie club record for quickest goals

Martin St. Louis scored his fist goal of the season with less than a minute to go in the second frame against the Sharks. Four seconds after the next face off, Rick Nash popped one in to tie a Rangers record for shortest time between goals.

Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis tied a New York Rangers record for shortest time between goals, notching markers four seconds apart near the end of the second period in the Rangers’ shutout win over the Sharks on Sunday.

New York Rangers on Twitter: “Those two goals were scored 4 seconds apart! That ties a #NYR franchise record for fastest two goals!!”

St. Louis jammed home his first of the season with 44 seconds remaining the middle frame before Nash capitalized on a misplayed dump in by Sharks goalie Alex Stalock on the ensuing faceoff as the Rangers took a 3-0 lead into the third.

The quick tallies were just shy of the NHL record of three seconds, which was set by the St. Louis Eagles (Mar. 21, 1935) and Minnesota Wild (Jan. 21, 2004).
