With the 2012 Stanley Cup final between the New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings set to begin on Wednesday, there are many fresh storylines for the hockey world to focus on.
One plotline, however, is not so new. In fact, this storyline has been going on for 18 seasons.
Another finals appearance for the New Jersey Devils’ future Hall of Famer, 40-year-old netminder Martin Brodeur, means that the old is new again. With three Stanley Cups already on his resume, Brodeur will be looking to add a fourth, one that could be his last in the NHL.
With that in mind, let’s take a look back at the 10 best saves (in chronological order) Brodeur has made in the Stanley Cup playoffs’ fourth and final round.
Expect Brodeur to add to this list over the next couple of weeks.
1995: Brodeur robs Detroit Red Wings forward Kris Draper at the goal line in Game 3
2000: Brodeur makes an unbelievable glove save on Hall of Famer Brett Hull in Game 1
2000: Brodeur snags a shot while on the ground from Dallas Stars skilled forward Jere Lehtinen in Game 5
