Auston Matthews exploded onto the NHL scene with a four-goal debut in October, but at the Centennial Classic in Toronto’s BMO Field he took over in front of a massive North American audience, winning the game in overtime with his second goal of the night.

That he saved his team from yet another late 4-1 collapse only added to the lore.
