NHL suspends Islanders’ Martin for one game

Matt Martin drew a five-minute major and automatic game misconduct for kneeing Trevor Daley of the Dallas Stars, who left the game against the New York Islanders with an apparent injury.

The NHL Department of Player Safety suspended New York Islanders forward Matt Martin for one game Wednesday, the league announced via official release.

Martin was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing Dallas Stars defenceman Trevor Daley on Tuesday night.

Martin will forfeit $5,376.34 in salary.

The 25-year-old forward has eight goals and 14 points and 114 penalty minutes in 65 games this season.
