The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to stay undefeated under new head coach Sheldon Keefe when they continue a six-game road trip on Wednesday night with an Original Six clash against the Detroit Red Wings as -210 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Toronto is coming off a 5-3 victory in Colorado as -120 chalk on Saturday, and now rides a two-game winning streak into Wednesday night's matchup at Little Caesars Arena.
The Maple Leafs played arguably their best hockey of the season in Keefe's debut behind the bench last Thursday, grabbing a 3-1 victory over Arizona as a -110 wager to snap a six-game losing streak. The team has also dominated in recent meetings with the Red Wings, posting wins in 10 of their past 13 matchups, capped by a 5-2 victory in Detroit on Oct. 12.
Conversely, the Red Wings find themselves on the verge of freefall as they prepare for Wednesday's contest as +175 home underdogs on the NHL betting lines. Detroit is currently mired in a six-game losing streak, capped by Sunday's 2-0 loss to the visiting Carolina Hurricanes as a +160 underdog, which leaves the club with an NHL-worst 4-7-1 home record.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, the Winnipeg Jets aim to continue their climb up the Central Division standings when they open a three-game California road trip in San Jose as +130 underdogs.
The Jets have earned a win in eight of their past 11 outings, including a 5-1-0 mark in six road outings, according to the OddsShark NHL Database. However, despite now sitting in sole possession of third place in the divisional standings, Winnipeg continues to lag as a +475 wager to win the Central Division.
The Jets must also contend with a red-hot Sharks team that enters Wednesday's contest as -150 favourites. San Jose has rebounded from a dismal start with wins in nine of 10 outings, and has claimed victory over Winnipeg in three straight meetings at SAP Center in San Jose.
Also on Wednesday, the Calgary Flames will try to overcome a dismal 1-5-2 run as they close out a four-game road trip in Buffalo as -120 favourites. The Ottawa Senators try to extend their current win streak on home ice to six games as they host the Atlantic-leading Boston Bruins as +140 underdogs. The Vancouver Canucks visit the Pittsburgh Penguins as +145 underdogs, and the Edmonton Oilers battle the Colorado Avalanche as +120 road underdogs.
