The Edmonton Oilers have activated Justin Schultz from injured reserve, the team announced Saturday.
Schultz, who missed 14 games with a back injury suffered Oct. 25, will lace up the skates for the Oilers as they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night.
Schultz, 25, had one assist in nine games prior to being injured. He also had the second-most time on ice for the Oilers (averaging 21:46 per game) during that time. He has registered 25 goals and 67 assists in 212 games with the Oilers.
The team announced earlier this week that forward Jujhar Khaira has been recalled by the big club. He will make his NHL debut Saturday.
To make room for Schultz’s return, the Oilers are sending 21-year-old blueliner Griffin Reinhart to AHL affiliate Bakersfield Condors.
