The Edmonton Oilers have activated defenceman Kris Russell from injured reserve.

Russell has not appeared in a game since Dec. 11 due to a groin injury. He has one goal and seven assists in 31 games in 2018-19.

The Oilers won just two games in his absence.

Edmonton has also placed forward Kailer Yamamoto on IR with an upper-body injury. The 20-year-old has one goal and one assist in 13 games this season.
