Oilers assign 2013 draft pick Nurse to AHL

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers assigned defenceman Darnell Nurse to the American Hockey League’s Oklahoma City Barons, the NHL team announced Wednesday.

Nurse, the Oilers’ first-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, had 13 goals, 37 assists, and 91 penalty minutes this season with the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

The Hamilton native posted eight points with three goals and five assists in nine playoff games.

The 19-year-old has spent three seasons with the Greyhounds, registering 101 points (26 goals and 75 assists) and 268 penalty minutes in 185 games.
