Oilers’ Caleb Jones set to make NHL debut vs. Flyers

Thanks to an injury-filled Edmonton Oilers blue line, defenceman Caleb Jones will make his NHL debut against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers Friday night, according to head coach Ken Hitchcock.

Originally a 2015 fourth-round pick of Edmonton, Jones has established himself as a well-rounded defenceman with the Bakersfield Condors, the team’s AHL affiliate. In 21 AHL games this season, the six-foot-one American has scored two goals and has added 10 assists.

With Oscar Klefbom, Kris Russell, and Andrej Sekera all out injured on the Oilers’ defence, Jones will be paired alongside Kevin Gravel where the 21-year-old should see significant action.
