The Edmonton Oilers will give a qualifying offer to pending restricted free agent Jesse Puljujarvi, according to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector.
Edmonton needed to qualify the Swedish winger by Monday’s deadline in order to retain his NHL rights.
Puljujarvi’s agent, Markus Lehto, has said his client wouldn’t play another game for the Oilers. Lehto told Spector last week that if Puljujarvi isn’t traded to another NHL franchise, he would play in Europe next season.
Puljujarvi has 17 goals and 37 points in 139 NHL games, and will be ready for next season despite coming off surgery on both hips.
