The Edmonton Oilers have loaned defence prospect Philip Broberg to Skelleftea AIK in the SHL.
Sportsnet’s Mark Spector reports the Oilers reserve the right to recall Broberg at any time before the IIHF transfer deadline, which in a non-pandemic year would be Feb. 15, according to the official IIHF rules established in 2019.

The SHL season is scheduled to begin on Sept. 19. The NHL is currently targeting mid-November for players to report to training camps with Dec. 1 as a tentative start date for the 2020-21 season.
Broberg, 19, had eight points in 45 games with Skelleftea this season, his first year in Sweden’s top men’s league.
He was the Oilers’ first-round pick, eighth overall, in the 2019 NHL Draft. He was a surprise addition to the Oilers’ return-to-play roster this summer, where he played in an exhibition game against the Calgary Flames but didn’t appear in any qualifying games against the Chicago Blackhawks.
