Oilers’ Nugent-Hopkins suffers significant hand injury

Todd McLellan revealed that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will be out long-term after a blocked shot went wrong for the Oilers forward.

The Edmonton Oilers‘ win over the Florida Panthers Monday did not come without a loss.

Centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins suffered a significant hand injury and will be out of the lineup long-term, head coach Todd McLellan announced following the game.

Nugent-Hopkins left the game in the second period and did not return. He appeared to be in pain after blocking a Dmitry Kulikov shot on the penalty kill.

The 22-year-old has eight goals and 22 assists in 46 games this season.
