Oilers’ Patrick Maroon ejected for high hit on Kings’ Drew Doughty

Patrick Maroon was given a match penalty after hitting Drew Doughty in the head with his shoulder and then fighting Derek Forbort.

Edmonton Oilers forward Patrick Maroon was ejected for a high hit on Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty.

The play occurred late in the second period. Doughty was skating behind the Kings’ net when Maroon hit him in the head with his shoulder.

Kings defenceman Derek Forbort then stepped in and fought Maroon. Maroon was given a match penalty on the play and a game misconduct, along with a fighting major.

Doughty left the game, though he did return partway through the third period.
