The Edmonton Oilers have placed Kris Russell on long-term injured reserve, general manager Ken Holland announced Monday.
Russell has been out of the lineup since Jan. 29 and was is in concussion protocol. In 49 games this season, the 32-year-old has eight points averaging 17:01 of ice time.
Head coach Dave Tippett said that Russell was skating at home but his timeline to return was unknown.
Forward Tyler Benson was also assigned to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors. The 21-year-old played in seven games with the Oilers, registering an assist, and has 36 points in 43 games in the AHL.
