The Edmonton Oilers have placed defenceman Brandon Manning and forward Markus Granlund on waivers for purpose of assignment to the Bakersfield Condors, the team announced Saturday.

The 29-year-old Manning, who was traded to the Oilers from the Chicago Blackhawks last season in hopes of bolstering their blueline, is signed through to the end of 2019–20 and has a $2.25 million cap hit.

The 26-year-old Granlund was brought aboard last summer on a one-year, $1.475 million deal with the hope that he would be able rekindle the magic of his 2016–17 season and, more importantly for the Oilers, bring a level of penalty killing that the team sorely lacked.

Manning has one goal in nine appearances with the Oilers, while Granlund has played in a much more substantial 31 games, totalling three goals and an assist during that time.
