The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with defenceman Matt Benning on a two-year contract extension through the 2019-20 season.
The 24-year-old appeared in 73 games with the Oilers in 2017-18, posting 21 points (6G, 15A), 49 penalty minutes and a plus-5 rating.
From St. Albert, Alta., Benning inked a deal with Edmonton as an unsigned drafted free agent on Aug. 27, 2016 after three seasons at Northeastern University.
Benning was originally drafted by Boston in the sixth round, 175th overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft.
