Oilers sign Pouliot to a five-year deal

The Oilers have added Keith Aulie, Mark Fayne, Benoit Pouliot, and Teddy Purcell. If size was ever an issue for the team, it isn't any longer.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Benoit Pouliot.

Pouliot signed a five-year deal.


Pouliot spent last season with the New York Rangers, helping them reach the Stanley Cup final. He had his best statistical season with the Rangers, scoring 15 goals and adding 21 assists in 80 games. He had five goals and five assists in the playoffs.

The 6-3, 199-pound native of Alfred, Ont., has 76 goals and 84 assists over 371 games with Minnesota, Montreal,Boston, Tampa Bay and New York.

He was selected fourth overall by the Wild in 2005.
