The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with goaltender Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers on a two-year contract.
Drouin-Deslauriers, 24, just completed his fourth professional season in 2007-08, appearing in 57 games with the Oilers’ top minor league affiliate, the Springfield Falcons (American Hockey League).
The 6’4", 189 pound native of St-Jean-Richelieu, Quebec, posted a 26-23-5 (W-L-SOL) record with a 2.90 goals against average and a .912 save percentage with the Falcons. His 26 wins established a career-high and tied him for seventh best among all AHL goaltenders.
Oilers Vice-President of Hockey Operations, Kevin Prendergast says, "Jeff made some significant strides last season and now appears ready to challenge for a spot on our hockey club. With Jeff’s addition, we are very comfortable with our goaltending situation."
Drouin-Deslauriers made his professional debut in 2004-05 with the AHL’s Edmonton Road Runners, posting a 6-13-2 (W-L-T) record with a 2.96 goals against average and a .888 save percentage in 22 games played.
Originally drafted by the Oilers in the second round, 31st overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Drouin-Deslauriers played with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Chicoutimi Sagueneens from 2001-02 to 2003-04. Over three seasons, he posted a 67-64-8 record in 150 career QMJHL games.
