Edmonton Oilers prospect Philip Broberg will continue playing in the Swedish Hockey League next season, as opposed to coming over to North America.
Broberg, the eighth-overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, will return to the SHL’s Skellefteå AIK, Oilers general manager Ken Holland said on Monday.
The 18-year-old is a left-shot defenceman who helped Sweden capture bronze at this past year’s IIHF World Junior Championship.
Last season, he posted one goal and eight points in 45 games with Skellefteå AIK.
