The Edmonton Oilers have traded defenceman Joel Persson to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for goalie Angus Redmond and a conditional 2022 seventh-round pick.

The pick is conditional on Persson playing at least 25 games in the NHL next season, Sportsnet’s Mark Spector reported.

Persson, 25, is in his first professional season in North America after seven seasons in various Swedish leagues. He has two assists in 13 games with the Oilers, as well as three goals and 16 points in 27 games with the American Hockey League’s Bakersfield Condors.

Redmond, 24, has not yet surpassed the AHL. This season, he has a 2.31 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 15 games with the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers.
