In the third period of Saturday night’s game, Alex Ovechkin caught Leo Komarov with a blindside hit on a weird play. Komarov (aka Uncle Leo) was skating backwards as Ovechkin was coming in – and the Capitals star caught Komarov with some force. The hit knocked Komarov out of the game.
Komarov and Ovechkin were teammates with the KHL’s Dynamo Moscow in 2012 during the NHL lockout. After Saturday’s game, Ovechkin was seen making a trip towards Toronto’s room where he met with Komarov.

And while Ovechkin seemed to regret the hit and said he didn’t mean to catch Komarov, Toronto coach Randy Carlyle had a different opinion.
