ARLINGTON, Va. — Alex Ovechkin will resume practice with the Washington Capitals on Tuesday after a disappointing Olympics and a health scare involving his father.

Ovechkin and the Russians were eliminated in the quarterfinals at the Winter Games last week. He then learned that his father was having heart problems and required surgery.

The Capitals told Ovechkin to remain in Russia with his father as long as necessary. The three-time NHL MVP said Friday on Twitter that his father is "going to be good" and tweeted Sunday that it was time to return to Washington.

The Capitals’ first post-Olympics game is Thursday on the road against the Florida Panthers.
