Panthers’ Trocheck taken off ice on stretcher after fall vs. Senators

Florida Panthers' Vincent Trocheck is stretchered off the ice after an awkward collision with Ryan Dzingel, in which he appears to fall on his own leg and bend it the wrong way.

Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck was forced to leave the ice on a stretcher Monday night after falling awkwardly while racing for the puck.

Late in the first period against the Ottawa Senators, Trocheck sped towards the corner of the Senators’ zone looking to collect the puck. The centreman collided with Ryan Dzingel along the wall before falling to the ice as his leg twisted.

Trocheck remained down on the ice in visible pain before being carried off via a stretcher.

After the game, Panthers coach Bob Boughner provided an update on Trocheck’s status.

“We don’t know the extent of the injury,” he said. “We know it’s not going to be a short-term thing… He’s going to be reassessed, but he’s coming back with us to Tampa Bay and then home to South Florida.”

The Panthers would go on to beat Ottawa 7-5.
