Patrick Kane ties longest point streak by an American

The Chicago Blackhawks scored two goals with less than two minutes left to force overtime and then Artem Anisimov finished off the Ducks.

Patrick Kane has tied the record for longest point streak by an American with an assist on Duncan Keith’s game-tying goal against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

The Chicago Blackhawks star has now recorded a point in 18 straight games.

It looked as though his streak would end at 17, with the Ducks up 2-1 and less than a half a minute remaining. But Kane sent the puck to Brent Seabrook who gave it to Keith – and his slap shot beat Anaheim goaltender John Gibson on the blocker side.

Kane is now tied with Ed Olczyk (1988-89) and Phil Kessel (2008-09) for the longest American streak. He’s still 10 games short of cracking the top 10 point streaks of all time.

Chicago’s next game is Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings.
