Penguins’ Ian Cole leaves game after taking slapshot to the face

Ian Cole had to head to the dressing room after taking a slap shot to the face from Roman Josi.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Ian Cole left Saturday’s game against the Nashville Predators after taking a slapshot to the face.

The incident, which you can watch at the top of this post, occurred during the first period off a Roman Josi shot from the point, and resulted in a few lost teeth for Cole.

The 28-year-old was able to get up and leave the ice on his own.

The Penguins have yet to provide an official update, though Cole was not on the bench to start the second period.
