Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry and defenceman Kris Letang will serve as injury replacements for the Metropolitan Division at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game, the league announced Tuesday.
Jarry will stand in for Columbus Blue Jackets netminder Joonas Korpisalo, while Letang will take the spot of teammate Jake Guentzel.
Jarry, 24, is making his first appearance at the mid-season classic after putting up a league-best 1.99 goals-against, .935 save percentage and three shutouts (tied), along with a 13-6-1 record, this season.
Letang is no stranger to the All-Star Game. The 32-year-old will be playing in his sixth, surpassing Hall of Famer Paul Coffey for the most appearances among Penguins defencemen. He has recorded 26 points in 34 games this season.
Guentzel will be forced to miss the Jan. 25 game after hurting his shoulder last week and undergoing surgery that is expected to sideline him four to six months.
Korpisalo, meanwhile, also underwent a procedure last week to repair a torn meniscus and is expected to miss four to six weeks.
