Penguins’ Letang suffers undisclosed injury, out vs. Kings

Beau Bennett scored two of the Pittsburgh Penguins' three goals during a 3:24 span of the third period in a 4-2 come-from-behind win against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without defenceman Kris Letang Friday as they take on the Los Angeles Kings.

According to head coach Mike Johnston, Letang suffered an injury during Wednesday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche. He did not participate in the team’s morning skate.

This will be the second time the 28-year-old will be sidelined due to injury this season.

Letang missed two games with an undisclosed injury earlier this month but returned for Wednesday’s game. According to Johnston, the two injuries are unrelated.

Fortunately for the Penguins’ blue line, a healthy Olli Maatta returned to NHL action Dec. 5 after a six-game absence and has tallied two goals and two assists in the three games since.

Letang has one goal and 13 assists in 25 games this season.
