Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jared McCann has been added to Canada’s roster for the upcoming world championships in Slovakia.

The news comes days after Canada announced the first 22 players on the roster, headlined by Toronto Maple Leafs centre John Tavares and Penguins goalie Matt Murray.

McCann, 22, was acquired by the Penguins from the Florida Panthers on Feb. 1. In 78 games with the Penguins and Panthers, McCann scored 19 goals and 35 points. He also had an assist in three playoff games with the Penguins.

Canada opens the 2019 world championships on May 10 against the Czech Republic.
