The Pittsburgh Penguins managed to thrive without Patric Hornqvist Tuesday in a dominant Game 4 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers and they’ll have to do so again in Game 5.
Penguins coach Mike Sullivan told reporters Thursday that Hornqvist is still dealing with an upper-body injury and won’t play Friday when Pittsburgh looks to close out the opening-round series at PPG Paints Arena.
Hornqvist, 31, had one goal and two assists through the first three games of the series, and he had 29 goals and 20 assists in 70 regular-season games in 2017-18.
Dominik Simon took Hornqvist’s spot on the Penguins’ top in Game 4 and came through with an assist on Sidney Crosby’s recording-breaking goal.
