The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed defencemen Kris Letang and Chad Ruhwedel and forward Bryan Rust on injured reserve.

Letang has a lower-body injury and missed the team’s last two games, including Wednesday’s win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has two goals and 25 points in 37 games this season.

Rust suffered an upper-body injury Wednesday against the Blue Jackets and is expected to be out long-term. He has four goals and 18 points in 38 games.

Ruhwedel also left Wednesday’s game early with an upper-body injury. He’s considered week-to-week. In 30 games this season he has one goal and three points.

Pittsburgh has also recalled forward Garret Wilson, defenceman Andrey Pedan and goaltender Casey DeSmith from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL.

In addition, the Penguins announced that goaltender Matt Murray is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will miss Friday’s game against the Hurricanes.

Murray started Wednesday’s game and it is unclear when the injury occurred. He has a 14-10-1 record this season with a 2.94 goals against average and .904 save percentage.

Tristan Jarry is expected to start Friday.
