Penguins’ Sidney Crosby being evaluated for upper-body injury

This is never something Pittsburgh Penguins fans enjoy hearing: Sidney Crosby is injured.

Crosby did not skate with his teammates at Wednesday’s practice and Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan told reporters the star centre is being evaluated for an upper-body injury.

It’s unclear when the 31-year-old might have sustained the injury after registering two assists and logging 21:32 of ice-time Tuesday in a 4-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Pittsburgh is set to host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday. Crosby’s status for that game is currently unknown.

Earlier in the day Wednesday, the struggling Penguins traded Carl Hagelin to the Los Angeles Kings for Tanner Pearson.
