Penguins sign Ryan Haggerty, place him on waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Ryan Haggerty to a two-year, two-way contract worth $675,000 per year at the NHL level.

The team has also placed the forward on waivers.

Haggerty had 16 goals and 37 points in 47 games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season.

The 25-year-old will report back there again should he go unclaimed.

The Stamford, Conn., native had previously spent time in the New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks organizations after going undrafted.
