Flyers address report of Giroux’s alleged arrest

Claude Giroux was released without charges from an Ottawa police station after getting a touch too rowdy on Canada Day in the nation's capital.

Philadelphia Flyers general manager Ron Hextall addressed an Ottawa Sun report that team captain Claude Giroux was arrested and spent Tuesday night in an Ottawa jail.

Flyers released the following statement on Twitter:

According to CSNPhilly.com, Cst. Marc Soucy of the Ottawa Police said he cannot confirm nor deny any ongoing investigation and as of Wednesday morning there were no charges filed against the 26-year-old.

Giroux had 28 goals, 58 assists, 46 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating in 82 games with the Flyers last season.
