The Philadelphia Flyers placed Vincent Lecavalier on injured reserve Monday with a non-displaced fracture in his lower back. The centre is expected to miss at least the next three to four weeks.
Lecavalier last played on Nov. 30 against the Nashville Predators, where he scored the lone goal in a shootout to lead the Flyers to a 3-2 win.
In 22 games with the Flyers this season Lecavalier has nine goals, 14 points, 19 penalty minutes and a minus-6 rating.
The Flyers also recalled forward Tye McGinn from the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League for some added support.
Lecavalier was flown back to Philadelphia Sunday—as the team is in the middle of a six-game road trip—where he underwent an MRI that revealed the fracture.
