Lee has struggled to score of late with no goals in his last nine games.
Impact
Lee may be feeling the pressure of not only the playoff push by the Islanders, but also that he is essentially playing for a new contract as he can be a free agent after the season. On the season, Lee has 18 goals and 20 assists in 55 games. Those numbers are a far cry from the 40 goals and 62 points he posted last year playing on the top line with John Tavares. While it's certainly no surprise that Lee isn't scoring as much without Tavares, this season makes it hard to determine what exactly his value is in free agency.
Lee scored twice in Thursday's 4-1 win over New Jersey.
Impact
Lee bookended the scoring, with his first goal occurring just 5:48 into the opening frame and the other tally coming into an empty net with 2:09 remaining in the third. With 18 goals through 46 games, Lee's on pace to top the 30-goal mark for the third consecutive season. While his scoring has dropped off from last year's 40-goal campaign, Lee has become much more responsible defensively, flipping his rating from minus-25 to plus-16.
Lee recorded a goal and an assist -- both on the power play -- in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Rangers.
Impact
Lee's second-period goal was originally credited to defenseman Nick Leddy, but it was later detected that Leddy's point shot was in fact redirected in front by Lee. The 6-foot-3, 231-pound forward makes a living screening goaltenders and deflecting pucks in front, with half of his 16 goals coming on the man advantage.
Lee scored a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Blues.
Impact
Lee's 15th snipe of the season came with less than five minutes to play and turned out to be the game winner. The 28-year-old now has 29 points for the season, good for third on the team. His assist came on Jordan Eberle's game-tying goal early in the third period.
Lee and the Islanders can start to work on a contract extension starting Tuesday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Impact
Lee is in the final season of a four-year $15 million contract. The Islanders would seem to be wise to either sign him to an extension or trade him before the February 25 deadline. The team doesn't want to risk another John Tavares situation where they let a productive player leave the team for no compensation. According to league rules the earliest the team can sign him to an extension would be Tuesday, but that doesn't mean the team and Lee haven't had contract talks. Lee has 14 goals and 27 points in 37 games so far this season and would seem to be in line to make somewhere between $6-$7 million per season in his next deal.
Lee scored a goal and added an assist in Monday's win over the Avalanche.
Impact
Lee had a nifty redirect on his first goal, as Nick Leddy rocketed a slap shot from the blue line and Lee got enough of the backhand of his stick on the puck to steer it past Semyon Varlamov. Lee now has 12 goals and 12 assists in 32 games, and nine of his points have come on the power play. Look for him to keep the momentum rolling Tuesday against the Coyotes.
Lee had to briefly leave the game Saturday after taking a hard check from Niklas Kronwall of the Red Wings, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Impact
The hit was shoulder to the face of Lee which resulted in eight stitches above Lee's left eyebrow and a few more above his lip. Kronwall will likely face discipline from the Department of Player Safety, but was not penalized during the contest. Lee went scoreless in this game, but the hit did seem to energize the Islanders as they eventually came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Wings, 3-2.
Lee set up two goals Saturday in a 4-1 win over Carolina.
Impact
It was Lee's first multi-point effort in almost a month. His last one came Oct. 28. Lee remains on pace to deliver 65 points, though his goals are indeed down from his 40-snipe high in 2017-18. But 25 goals would still be a fine result. His owner may be frustrated with him -- that could work to your advantage. Lee's overall fantasy value remains solid.
Lee is on pace to score about 25 goals and 60 points this season.
Impact
The loss of John Tavares has had a negative effect on Lee's ability to put the puck in the net. Lee had scored 34 and 40 goals playing with Tavares the past two campaigns but only averaged 20 assists. Without Tavares, Lee isn't scoring as much, though that could be because his shooting percentage has come down from a high of 19.2 last season to 11.3 this year. That said, Lee is still on pace to equal last season's point total of 62 and therefore is still a fantasy asset.
Lee notched a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over the Hurricanes on Sunday.
Impact
Lee scored on the power-play Sunday and also assisted on the eventual game-winner, an admirable encore to a four-point performance. He has points in four straight and will face the Penguins on Tuesday. We advise that you continue to deploy him with confidence.
