The Nashville Predators have acquired forward Cody McLeod from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for prospect Felix Girard, as reported by Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

McLeod, who is known for his grit, has 117 points (66 goals, 51 assists) and 1,359 penalty minutes in 659 career NHL games (all with the Avalanche).

A year ago, the 32-year-old led the league with 12 fighting majors and already has eight so far in 2016-17, which is good for fourth in the NHL.

Meanwhile, Girard, a natural centre, was selected in the fourth round (95th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Predators.

The 22-year-old Girard has yet to play an NHL game and has eight points (three goals, five assists) in 35 games with the AHL’s Milwaukee admirals this season.

The next game for both Colorado and Nashville is Saturday when the two teams face each other.
